Cricket Coaching School upsets Gazi Tank:

An unconquered 156 runs by Shahbaz Butt enabled newcomers Cricket Coaching School (CCS) to earn a creditable 53- run win over Gazi Tank Cricketers in a match of the Premier Division Cricket League at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah today (Sunday).

This was the 2nd victory for CCS in their third league match while the second defeat for the star-studded Gazi Tank Cricketers, led by national skipper Mohammad Ashraful, in their third league engagement.

Sent into bat first, Cricket Coaching School posted huge 285 runs for 4 wickets in stipulated 50 overs with Pakistani Shahbaz Butt contributing unbeaten 156 runs.

Butt, whose 162-ball innings featured 17 fours and two sixes, was adjudged man of the match.

Shuvagato Hom (39), opener Uttam Sarker (37) and Nazimuddin Ripon (33) were the other major contributors for CCS.

Rabiul Islam, Nayeem Islam and Enamul Haq Junior took one wicket apiece.

In reply, Gazi Tank Cricketers were all out for 232 for 9 in 50 overs with Pravanjan Mallick scoring 55 runs off 78 balls that included five boundaries.

Opener Mohammad Mithun (45), Anwar Hossain (41), Nayeem Islam not out (36) and captain Mohammad Ashraful (21) were the other notable scorers for Gazi Tank Cricketers.

Elias Sunny claimed three wickets for 37 runs while Bishwanath Halder and Nizamuddin Ripon took two wickets each for 39 and 46 runs respectively.

In the day’s another premier league match at BKSP ground in Savar, Surjo Tarun Club tasted the 2nd victory in their third league match beating all- losers City Club by 91 runs.

Put into bat first, Surjo Tarun Club piled up 241 for 9 in 50 overs. One down Hannan Sarker scored 70 runs off 95 balls with four fours and a six to be adjudged man of the match.

Sandeep Sharma (33), Junaid Siddiqui (31), Sabbir Rahman (27), Rajin Saleh (23) and Anisur Rahman (21) were the other Surjo Tarun batsmen who reached double figures.

Jafar Quraishi captured three wickets for 43 runs while Shafaq al Zabir and Raisul Islam took two wickets each for 28 and 50 runs respectively.

In reply, City Club were dismissed for 150 runs in 41.4 overs with opener Russell Al Mamun scoring 42 runs off 53 balls that included five boundaries.

Sabbir Rahman, Sanjamul Islam and Saqlain Sajib picked up two wickets each for 16, 25 and 29 runs respectively.

In the day’s other match at Sher-e- Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, sent into bat first, Old DOHS SC score 205 runs for all in 49.5 overs with Anhoor Newaj and Mehrab Hossain Jr making 51 and 50 runs respectively.

Niamul Haque, Mominul Haque and Rifatuzzaman grabbed two wickets each for 23, 36 and 42 runs respectively.

In reply, BKSP were bundled out BKSP for 178 in 48.5 overs with Mominul Haque scoring 37 and Saikat Ali 30 runs. Abul Hossain claimed three wickets for 29 runs.
